About Kathryn…

Theater Artist - Producer - Ordained Clergy

Gestalt Pastoral Care Minister

Kathryn Dickinson is a theater artist, producer, and minister, who is the Founding and Emerita Artistic Director of the non-profit theater company White Bird Productions in NYC. For over 35 years, Kathryn worked with professional theater artists creating original theater with hundreds of young theater-makers in Brooklyn, now a central part of White Bird Productions. Kathryn has devised and written theater with an emphasis on the social and physical environment of New York City, a mission exemplified in the devised, verbatim play — Combustion: The Politics of Trash that explored the controversy over the proposed Brooklyn Navy Yard proposed incinerator in the 90’s. Kathryn’s experience as the daughter of a Methodist minister during the civil rights movement in her birth state of Mississippi is expressed in her play — Born of Conviction — produced in 2010 by White Bird Productions in Brooklyn.

Ordained in the United Methodist Church, Kathryn is currently appointed to develop Faith and the Arts: An Ecumenical and Interfaith Coalition in the New York Annual Conference. In addition, she also serves as a minister in the healing modality of Gestalt Pastoral Care Associates. She is available for group retreats and individual healing work, with experience/knowledge in working with artists, clergy, interfaith communities, LGBTQIA peoples and their families. Kathryn has a keen awareness of issues and wounds encountered and experienced within our places of belonging — families, congregations, workplaces, hometowns — due to one’s age, gender, race, culture,  sexual orientation and identity.

Kathryn, as an ordained minister, presides at weddings, funerals, memorial services & special occasions.
